Scholarship Guidelines & Application

Applications are accepted between January 8th, 2025 and April 1, 2025. Information received after this date will render the application incomplete and it will not be processed. Scholarship winners will be announced May/June 2025. Scholarships are limited to undergraduate college studies, technical, or trade school programs.

Minimum Applicant Criteria:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Must have a career goal in the natural gas or related energy field
  • Must be an Ohio resident attending, or planning to attend an accredited Ohio college, university, technical or trade school
  • Must have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Required Documents:

  • High school or college, trade school or technical school transcript for highest level of education received (Please make sure there are no social security numbers listed within your transcript)
  • ACT/SAT test scores, if applicable. 
  • Two letters of recommendation from a teacher, employer or other mentor figure (Recommendations from family members are not accepted)
  •  An essay consisting of no less than 250 words, and no more than 500 words on one of the topics below:
    • What do you already know about natural gas and what draws you to pursuing a career in our industry?
    • Please provide an example of a product that you researched (possibly one that you did not know was linked to natural gas in production) and how natural gas was involved?
    • What role do you see natural gas playing in America’s pursuit of energy independence?
  • A resume listing your academic achievements, extracurricular activities, awards/recognitions, community service, work history, etc.

Only use the renewal form if you have previously been awarded an OGA scholarship.

Required Renewal Documents:

  • Transcript (Please make sure there are no social security numbers listed within your transcript)
  • An essay of 250 to 500 words reflecting on your academic journey over the past year. Focus on what you have accomplished or learned during this time, particularly in areas related to natural gas or energy education.
