Columbia Gas of Ohio customers are benefiting from an abundant supply of natural gas and mild winter weather.
The natural-gas distribution company said Thursday that customers paying the standard price will pay the lowest February rate in at least a decade: 31 cents per 100 cubic feet of gas.
The average bill for those customers is expected to be $94.97 this month, down $14.01 from February 2019 when cold weather pushed rates higher.
The standard price, called the “standard choice offer,” is the default price for consumers who have not signed up with an outside supplier. About 44% of Columbia Gas of Ohio customers, or 637,000 customers, pay the standard price.
